About Us
Our Vision
Women and girls living in safe communities with renewed minds and economic wellness
Our Mission
A women-focused organization combating Gender-Based Violence and poverty through the provision of self-sufficiency skills, training and mindset change.
Founded in Resilience
The genesis of Zayane Creations Trust is a personal story of Eunice Chimphoyo-Banda and the impact that Gender Based Violence has on one’s life. At 15, she was sexually abused and became pregnant, leading to a series of challenges, including dropping out of school, experiencing blame, shame, isolation, as well as struggling with poverty and poor health.
However, she was later given the opportunity to resume her education and acquired various skills. Eunice’s story inspired her with the support of her husband to start ZCT in order to provide support and opportunities to women survivors of GBV and poverty, empowering them to overcome their struggles. Following principles gleaned from the Holy Bible and with the support of her husband, she began by utilizing her skills and resources to make and sell jewelry and beaded bags and saved the income earned to build up ZCT.
As the work grew, ZCT received support from the African Business Institute and the Segal Family Foundation, enabling ZCT to expand its reach and impact. Founded on 26 February 2018 in Malawi, ZCT is a registered NGO under the Trustees Incorporation Act and a member of CONGOMA.
Our dedicated Lilongwe based team works collaboratively to advance our mission and walk alongside the women and girls we serve. We believe that meaningful change happens through authentic relationships built on trust and the spirit of “Umunthu” championing the inherent dignity and special value of every human being. While each person plays a unique role, from our Board of Trustees providing strategic governance to our expert trainers on the ground, we are all guided by our shared values of faith, integrity, and transparency, approaching our work with an innovative mindset and a deep commitment to community wellness.
