On 23 October 2025, Zayane Creations Trust held an important awareness session on M-pox, a virus currently spreading in Lilongwe. The aim was to equip our team with knowledge on how to prevent infection and protect our communities.

The session, facilitated by Mr. and Mrs. Mkombezi, focused on M-pox prevention and also covered other vital health topics such as blood pressure (BP) diseases, mental health, and the importance of eating nutritious food.

M-pox, previously known as monkeypox, is a viral disease that spreads through close contact with an infected person, animal, or contaminated materials. It can also spread through direct contact with rashes or body fluids, and by touching items like clothing or bedding used by someone who is infected. Symptoms appear within 5 to 21 days and include fever, headache, muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, and a rash that goes through several stages before healing.

Prevention focuses on good hygiene and awareness avoiding close contact with infected individuals, washing hands often, not sharing personal items, and seeking medical help if symptoms appear.

After the morning session at the ZCT office, the facilitators continued the training at our project site in Jambawe, ensuring all our project beneficiaries benefited from the discussions. The session reminded everyone that good health is about more than avoiding illness, it’s about caring for our bodies and minds every day.

Zayane Creations Trust remains committed to promoting health, safety, and wellness among our staff and the communities we serve.
